Japanese Poster For 'W.'

"Below it is says The world's "Kutsu Yoge" man. Generally in Japanese the phrase KY means 空気読めない, literally "to be unable to read the air" but what it refers to is someone who can't read a situation, someone who is always putting their 'foot in it' so to speak. So it's a pun on the fact that Bush was gaffe prone and he got a shoe chucked at him."

Asian Economic Woes Force Layoffs Of 700,000 Pop Stars

********* Not Really News **********

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA—In what is being called the worst development to hit the Asian pop star industry in years, the floundering economy forced several Pacific Rim nations to lay off some 700,000 pop stars this week, sources close to the young, perky entertainers reported. "Although we still have more than 2 million pop stars left working, this is a devastating blow," entertainment industry analyst Bak Jae-bok said. "Sadly, the space-age Korean teenybopper and Japanese cowboy sectors were hit the hardest, and may take many months to recover." Bak went on to say that several Asian entertainment corporations are now looking to outsource their red-haired, leather-jacket-wearing teenage boy workforce overseas.

Men have Become Golddiggers, Just like Women

According to a survey of 482 unmarried men and women by Gayeon, a domestic matchmaking company, eight of 10 male respondents pointed out beauty as the foremost value in choosing a woman for dating.

Personality, academic background and economic power came next on the list. Women also showed a similar order in preference for dating partners.

But the results were quite different in selecting a spouse. Appearance was placed virtually at the bottom of the list, while the wealth of perspective spouses, their jobs and academic backgrounds topped the list.

Nearly 50 percent of female respondents placed top priority on prospective spouses' monetary value, followed by personality, alma mater and family background.

Hong Jeong-wook, spokesman for Duo, a major matchmaking agency, said: "Regardless of gender, money is one of the key elements in selecting a person to marry. In the past, men paid greater attention to beauty than other factors. But it's not the case any longer."
